
New Delhi: Sourav Ganguly XI beat Brendon McCullum XI by seven wickets in an intra Kolkata Knight Riders practice game in Bloemfontein on Monday.
Batting first, McCullum XI rode on a half-century by Akash Chopra to post 140 for six. In reply, Sourav XI scored 143 for three with Morne van Wyk scoring a fifty.
The Kolkata team will play another two practice games on Tuesday, this time against Free State.
The side, however, also suffered a setback during the game with in-form batsman Cheteshwar Pujara hurting his knee. He has been advised rest and will not play in the next two practice matches.
The team will leave for Cape Town on Wednesday. They are scheduled to play their first game against Deccan Chargers on Sunday there.
