• On 103 he posted his highest score in Test cricket, beating his 102 in the last Test at Hamilton.
• On 114 he posted the highest score by any New Zealand batsman against India at Napier, beating John Wright’s (113*) in 1989-90.
• On 152 he posted the highest score by a Kiwi number 5 batsman against India, putting into shade Bert Sutcliffe’s 151 (not out) at Calcutta in 1964-65.
• On 161 he became the highest scorer in an innings for New Zealand at Napier, surpassing Hamish Marshall’s 160 against Sri Lanka in 2004-05.
• On 198 he posted the highest individual score by any batsman in a Test at Napier, eclipsing West Indian Chris Gayle’s 197 in 2008-09.
• On 200 he became only the third New Zealander to score a double hundred at number 5 or lower after Nathan Astle (222 v England at Christchurch in 2001-02) and Martin Donnelly (206 v England at Lord's in 1949).
